If you haven’t read, the United States Golf Association made a logical move and elevated Mike Davis to replace David Fay as Executive Director of that august organization. The USGA runs a number of professional and amateur national championships, including the Father’s Day extravaganza known as the US Open for hombres. Fay was in charge of the association for some 20-odd years and is known first for bringing the national championship for dudes to public and municipal courses (while most of us can’t afford Pinehurst and Pebble, we can swing the green fee for Bethpage Black and Torrey Pines.)

Davis has moved from senior director of Rules and Competitions, where he is recognized for flexible course setups, including less penal rough and tee marker movement (turning longer par fours into late-round driveable ones, to add glory and disaster to the recipe.)
