Congratulations to Lockport Town & Country Club, the winner of our Best 8th Hole vote. The long and twisty par five garnered over 150 votes to outdistance its rival fairways.

Two communications explain why Lockport left a gap between itself and the runner-up in the vote for Best 8th Hole in Buffalo-Niagara.

The first was a Twitter response on or about the 16th of March. It reads:

@buffalogolfer Challenge- come out and play our “boring” 18th hole again. If you par #18, your next foursome here is on us! #itsallingoodfun

The tweet was in response to our Top 25 Private Courses in WNY ranking of 2011. In it (and I admit, the hand is mine!) we wrote “…the original holes lay on a rumpled piece of land that moves up and down with abruptness, ending in a flat, boring and weak 18th hole.” It’s wonderful when a course can offer a heartfelt challenge, based on a firm belief in its own worth.

The second was a post on the Lockport T&CC Facebook page, that reads:

LTCC is in the lead with 120 votes! If you have not voted yet, please visit buffalogolfer.com and vote! Let’s show them our Lockport pride!

Simply, Lockport Town & Country Club actuated, activated, regulated and motivated its membership and supporters, and they voted! Congratulations on earning the distinction of “Best 8th Hole in Buffalo-Niagara” to the LTCC family. Now, on to the 9th hole vote.
