My fantasy golf season officially ended this week and it’s an ugly case to examine. Prior to the start of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, I was still in striking distance of the top teams in my league. Come Sunday night, I’ll have falled to Jason Gore-like OWGR standings.

Here’s the facts of the situation:
Early Tuesday morning I logged in to Yahoo’s Fantasy Golf and cleared my roster and began to update my players for the new event. I remember picking Bubba Watson (I swear) and Spencer Levin. My memory struggles to name the other players I picked for my A, B and C slots that morning.

When I went to save the roster,  I clicked it and it froze for a second. My entire computer became slowed and I needed to get going to work. I gave it a few more seconds, was confident it had saved and headed out.

When I checked Thursday morning, my roster still featured all eight of my players from the Heritage event which took place last week. Only Luke Donald was earning me points during Thursday’s round and I was able to sub in Rickie Fowler and Levin for points in Friday’s round. With the snafu and some missed cuts, Donald and Fowler are my only points possibilities this weekend.

It’s an ugly week. I’ve already slid some 2,500 spots in the overall season competition. I’m in 30th for points in the spring in my league and 22nd overall.

Maybe it’s my fault. Maybe it’s the mistake of a computer. Either way, my fantasy golf season has gone up in flames.
