A piece by Rob Bolton on Golf Digest’s website caught my eye today. He gives his usual Power Rankings treatment to the two-man teams that dispute the World Cup this weekend on Hainan Island, China. What struck me was the quality of golfer on each of his top five teams. Time was, established countries had to dig pretty deep to collect players to participate. Now, with world ranking points and other perqs, it’s a different story.

In no particular order, Bolton has South Africa (Schwartzel and Oosthuizen), USA (Kuchar and Woodland), England (Poulter and Rose), Ireland (McDowell and McIlroy) and Spain (Jimenez and Quiros) in his quaint quintet. Among those ten players are recent major winners, tour leaders and big hitters. Keep an eye on the World Cup after the dust and gravy settle. Visit the official site here.
