Tiger Woods\u2019 fall from the top spot has been well-documented but what hasn\u2019t received enough attention is how nobody else on the planet has really deserved the spot until now. Lee Westwood held it and did nothing with the ranking. Martin Kaymer won last year\u2019s PGA Championship and eventually held the spot for a bit, but never made a bold statement as the #1 player in the world.<\/p>\n

But, if Donald wins today (and that\u2019s a big if as Poulter is no pushover) we\u2019ll finally have the top player in the top spot. Look at Donald\u2019s PGA Tour results over the past few months\u2026<\/p>\n
~ He won the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship earlier this year. Quite honestly, there\u2019s nobody on the planet who can match those results and performances in 2011. Donald has played better golf than anyone else breathing this year. A win today would earn him a second-straight World Match Play victory and even more respect in the golf community.<\/p>\n Yes, Tiger Woods will fall out of the top 10 this week. But, if all goes well for Donald, the top player in the world will finally own the top spot in the rankings.
