A challenging day of Mother Nature’s worst wreaked havoc on the field at the Cornell University golf course<\/strong><\/a> during round one of the 2017 NYSPHSAA boys golf championships. Section 8 (Nassau County, +45) splashed its way to an 11-stroke lead over Section 5 (Genesee Valley, +56), with Section 6 in 8th spot at +84. Adam Xiao of Section 8 nearly balanced his pars and birdies on day one. The sophomore from Manhasset had 3 bogies against 2 birdies for 72 and a one-stroke advantage over Section 9’s Justin Lane. Low for Section 6 was East Aurora\/Holland’s Andrew LaCongo<\/strong><\/a>, who had 2 birdies, 4 bogeys and a double bogey in a round of 75. The sophomore was the brightest light for the squad from western New York. All area scores can be seen in the image below.<\/p>\n
