The Section VI boys golf squad made an effort to improve on its day-one standing of 8th place at the NYSPHSAA boys state golf championships<\/strong><\/a>, at the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf course at Cornell University. Represented by golfers from six area schools, the 9-golfer lineup found itself solidly between the +118 shot by sections 3 and 4 (6th place tie) and the +173 recorded by section 2 (9th place) at days end. The top area golfer was sophomore Andrew LaCongo from the East Aurora\/Holland contingent. LaCongo finished in a tie for 17th place after two rounds, earning a Top-20 All Star designation. Anticipation was high for some of the senior members of the Section 6 brigade, but the rough weather on day one eliminated the vast majority from contention for individual honors.
