Buffalo’s Chris Covelli, enjoying tournament golf after a self-imposed hiatus from the competitive game, stands in 6th place after round one of the inaugural South Beach International Amateur in Miami.<\/p>\n

Covelli signed for a one-under round of 69, four strokes off the lead of Parisian Olivier Rozner. In second place is current US Amateur champion Kelly Kraft, tied with Patrick Christovich of New Orleans.<\/p>\n

The remaining members of the western New York contingent were not as successful as Covelli. Despite the extended Fall, the area arsenal turned in scores of 75 (Jonathan Clark-Orchard Park), 78 (Billy Hanes-Elma), 83 (Jacob Kreuz-Amherst) and 93 (Bill Gaffney-Williamsville.)<\/p>\n
