The topography ranges from scenic shorelines with unspoiled wetlands to majestic tree lined courses with rolling hills. Very relaxing and not too overcrowded, I\u2019ll be coming back to you.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5994\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a northern-most coast of the Gulf of Mexico and boasts more than over 32 miles of sugar white beaches.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s also family-friendly with plenty of shopping, a variety of locally-owned restaurants, happening bars and some great off-shore fishing.\u00a0 There are nine championship golf courses within a short drive of each other and more than available 16,000 rental units ranging from campgrounds, cottages, motels, hotels and condominiums so you\u2019re guaranteed to find the accommodations that will suit your life-style and budget.\u00a0 We stayed in a fully-equipped condo at the Turquoise Place, an amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spectrumresorts.com\">Spectrum Resorts<\/a> \u00a0property right on the Gulf of Mexico. \u00a0Magnificent views of the beach and a hot tub right on your balcony! \u00a0How good is that?<\/p>\n<p>During our stay we played three of local courses:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5995\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/buffalogolfer.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Gulf_Shores_18th.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5995\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5995\" title=\"18th @ Gulf Shores\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/buffalogolfer.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Gulf_Shores_18th.jpg?resize=300%2C162\" alt=\"18th @ Gulf Shores\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" id=\"caption-attachment-5995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">18th @ Gulf Shores<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gulfshoresgolfclub.com\/\">Gulf Shores Golf Club<\/a> (formerly known as The Golf Club of the Wharf) opened in the 1960\u2019s as the first golf course in the area.\u00a0\u00a0 In 2005, Jay and Carter Morrish redesigned and lengthened it to almost 7,000 yards on this par 71 and added the new Dwarf Miniverte Bermuda grass which keeps it green all year round and in great shape.\u00a0 Gulf Shores is relatively flat but the addition of more water hazards and bunkering helps define the fairways.\u00a0 Holes #3 and #6 are great par threes with wooden retaining walls but they left the last three holes as the toughest. \u00a018 holes with cart is $69USD.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5996\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/buffalogolfer.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Peninsula_C.jpg\"><img id=\"caption-attachment-5996\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peninsula Golf &amp; Racquet Club<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peninsulagolfclub.com\/layout9.asp?id=14&amp;page=369\">Peninsula Golf &amp; Racquet Club<\/a> was delicately designed by Earl Stone to protect the Bon Secour Wildlife Reserve and the pristine beaches of Mobile Bay that bound this property.\u00a0 His well-conditioned 27-hole layout meanders through fairways lined with live oaks, cypress and unspoiled natural terrain with more than thirty lakes to contend with.\u00a0 You can play almost 7,200 yards from the tips or under 5,000 yards from the forward tees.\u00a0 With a slope of 133 and a course rating of 74.7 pick one that best suits your game to escape without being beaten up.\u00a0 There are three nines to pick from \u2013 the Marsh, Lakes and Cypress.\u00a0 We only had time to play the Marsh and must admit I got my ass kicked.\u00a0 Target golf at its finest!\u00a0 Bring you \u2018A\u2019 game or braggarts beware!<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the Champion Ultra Dwarf grass, the greens are big and fast and don\u2019t need over-seeding.\u00a0 The cost for 18 holes with range balls and a GPS equipped cart is $69USD the region. \u00a0There scenery is comprised of sand dunes, lakes and natural wildlife areas is splendid but don\u2019t be lulled into a false sense of serenity as it is always breezy here so wind will be factor.<\/p>\n<p>The 12<sup>th<\/sup> hole reminds me of one of my favourite golf courses, Greg Norman\u2019s El Camaleon on the Riviera Maya in Mexico.
