nice hole even though consider long, it offers a realistic golf challenge for most of us.
I think Arrowhead has the best, most demanding 18th hole in Western NY. The 18th hole from the blue tees when they are pushed back makes it a 457 yard par 4 that plays into the wind on most days. Yikes!!
Guy, you’ve got me applauding and laughing at the same time. I applaud you for recognizing the 18th at Arrowhead, but SLOW DOWN, Cowboy! We’re only on the 10th hole. We’ll get to 18 eventually, sometime in May.
I can’t believe the #10th at harvest hill was not put up on the ballad. One of my favorite par 5’s in WNY. Plus could of been the first back to back winner in the poll!
Eric – what about the hole do you like in particular? Aesthetics, risk/reward balance, unique topography, interesting green? Just curious what about the 10th you like most compared to even the other par 5s at Harvest.
I think Harvest has a great collection of Par 5s, but I’d probably have #10 as my 4th favorite (behind 2, 6 & 18). I do like the variety of angles you can use to attack #10, but I think it gives far too much forgiveness for someone trying to get home in 2 (ie a pushed / sliced 3 wood ends up being a great layup).
Still, we love to hear opinions from our readers. It’s entirely possible there’s something about the hole that we’re not considering.
I, in contrast, find the drive to be a bit awkward/demanding. Perhaps that gives it the balance of tough drive/easy second shot.
You stole the words out of my mouth mo golf. The hole gives you options off the tee. When I play it (usually from the gold or black tees) i play a hybrid down to about 250-260yds out then hit 3 wood or even driver off the deck. But watch out for the bunker. From the 1st landing area it looks like it is right up next to the green but it really lies about 75yds out, so it makes for a tough 3rd shot if one is to hit into it. Mainly I like the hole because there are so many options on how to play it plus I just like the way it flows down the hill it just seems to fit. Next time you play it, when you get to the 100yd marker look back towards the tee. Pretty neet vantage point.
What about 10 at Concord Crest? Not Long, but certainly a blind shot to an unreceptive green that keeps scores of 3-7 in play. Tons of elevation Change that funnels right towards OB. One of the most interestingly contoured fairways in the area. Is certainly a fun hole to play.
You’re right, Tim. That’s a fine golf hole. As I recall, the fairway is tilted and rumpled, which makes it even more demanding. I think we need you as a guest commentator!
if you ever get to naples,ny on canadaugua lake, try Reservoir Creek, the 10th hole is a beauty from the tee box and to the green. pure golf heaven!
Played it about six years ago…love how the course sits near the middle of town, then winds its way back into the hills. Is that the hole that dances along a cliff-like drop?
