Caledonia CC, Caledonia, NY- Pittsford, NY should be very proud of their junior golf program. On Tuesday, July 12th, Chris Blyth and Kristen Bromley who are both from Pittsford have qualified for the 36th Junior PGA Championship at Sycamore Hills CC in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The tournament will be held the week of August 2nd and will include the top players who have qualified from the 41 PGA Sections. The qualifier held at Caledonia CC was a 36 hole individual stroke play qualifier event. Chris Blyth started his day shooting a 77 in the first round which was three back from the lead as Brad Belote of Buffalo, NY posted a 74. However, Blyth warmed up in the second round as he posted a 71, the only under par score of the day. Even with his 71 his day was not done. Matthew Van Niekerk of Rochester, NY went 76, 72, 148 to force a playoff. Chris Blyth ended up winning the playoff and will represent the WNY PGA section come August. The defending girls champion was back today and she had one thing on her mind – get back to Sycamore Hills. Kristen did just that and posted a 82, 74, 156 to beat out Marissa DelMonaco of Little Valley, NY. Bromley is one of the top girls players on the First Niagara WNYPGA Junior Tour and will be an excellent representation of junior golf in Western New York.
