For the sake of simplicity, all advice on swings and drills is provided from a right handed perspective; lefties …. well, you know what to do!

Think Like Jack

Jack Nicklaus once commented that he had never missed a crucial putt on the last hole of a tournament. When someone in the audience reminded him of a specific situation in which he had missed such a putt, Nicklaus replied, “I didn’t miss that putt. I made the putt – the ball missed the hole.”

That’s confidence folks.

Lofted Chips

My teaching preference for chipping is to use a “compression” chip as your “go to” chipping technique. Ocassionally a lofted chip may be called for, here’s how to do it.

To execute a lofted chip, simply set up with the ball a little more forward in your stance, set up with less forward shaft lean, and when you execute the chip allow the clubhead to feel like it’s passing your hands at impact.

Your ball flight should be high and soft landing, so note that you’ll also need to pick a landing spot vs. the lag mentality for a compression chip.
