Thanks to rains that delayed play for 3 hours, the first round of the 2013 NYSGA men’s amateur championship will extend into Wednesday.Officials were unable to get all contestants around the Schuyler Meadows course after the hiatus and a number of competitors will rise early to finish their opening round.

From the Buffalo area, Erie County amateur champion Matt Stasiak completed a one-under par round of 71 to sit three strokes behind the leading 68 from Victor Fox. Crag Burn’s Billy Gaffney is even par with four holes left to play. Thad Weir of Springville country club shot two-over 74. Adam Boland of Crag Burn is +3 with five holes to play and Cherry Hill’s Charlie Barth signed for a +4 76 in his first State-level competition.
