Do you know what stinks? Being in the half of the draw of a major championship that gets stuck with the lousy weather. It rained yesterday on the afternoon wave, causing a delay and disrupting their games. Guess what happened on Friday? It rained in the morning, basically sticking it to the same bunch of guys.
That’s not to say that players from that wave are out of it, by any stretch. Adam Scott is in the top three and Justin Rose figures in the top five. Guys like Matt Kuchar, Jim Furyk and Steve Stricker sit inside the top seven, thanks to their fortunate, favorable draw. Oh, and so does that guy Jason Dufner.
Dufner? Yeah, he did all right. Shot 63, broke the course record, tied the low 18-hole round at the PGA Championship. And dunked this shot to get it all started. Guess that’s what it takes to get a high-five and butt-slap from Steve Stricker!
Tiger? T39. Phil? One shot back. Doesn’t matter. The top 15 is loaded with top names and gunslingers. The weekend should be memorable.
