Not to say that no one wanted the lead after two rounds of the Porter Cup, but suffice it that Geoff Drakeford is not the leading name that folks anticipated. Gavin Hall shot even par and sits one back. Taylor Funk once again had a chance to take a commanding lead, but gave four strokes back over the final five holes. International players like Dale Brandt-Richards (Australia), Stephane Dubois (Canada) and David Boote (England) played themselves into contention with sub-par rounds. Tournament favorites Denny McCarthy and Max Buckley kept pace with rounds in the 60s of their own. At the end of day two, minus-seven held the lead and twenty players found themselves within six strokes of the top spot. The Porter Cup has what it wanted, an old-fashioned shoot-out, heading into moving day.
