Interesting factoids from round two at the Porter Cup…

*Leader Paul Haley has zero bogies through 36 holes-10 birds, 26 pars. He’s been close, but has managed to slam the door on the plus figures;

*After 2/3 birdies on the par fives on Wednesday, Haley went0/3 today. I’m safe in saying that he won’t win the tournament without birdies on the par fives the next two days;

*Daniel Nisbet and Justin Thomas went from t4 to t20 by playing the last six holes at +4…shows that there’s no stretch of holes on the NFCC course that can be taken for granted;

*Two guys made enormous leaps on Thursday. Patrick Rodgers climbed from t14 to solo 2nd with a 7-birdie, 0-bogie 63, while Tarquin MacManus flew from t31 to solo 4th with a 6-birdie, 0 bogie 64;

*Nice Starts for Nate McCoy (birdied holes 1-4), John Peterson (birdied 2 & 4, eagled 3) and Curtis Thompson (asterisk~birdied holes 10-13 on his second nine today);

*2011 Phil Mickleson award for inconsistency through 36 holes: Lee Bedford~Dude has mad 7 birds and an eagle and is -3, thanks to a couple doubles that could have been avoided;

Predictions at halfway point: Haley will finish top 5, Peterson will post another smooth round on Friday to get in the mix on Saturday (he wants that Walker Cup spot!) and Tripp Davis will be low old guy (over 26) for 2011.
