Tom’s Bonus Tip: Lie and Setup
For the sake of simplicity, all advice on swings and drills is provided from a right handed perspective; lefties …. well, you know what to do!
Your lie dictates your shot, your setup dictates your swing, and they must both be congruent in order to get a good result.
Practical examples of this are:
not trying to hit a fade off a lie when the ball is above your feet
not trying to hit a draw off a lie where the ball is below your feet
not trying to force extraordinary distance from a shot with a buried or bad lie
Examine your lie, and then set up to take what the course gives you.
It’s golf’s version of not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
