The Spartans of Williamsville North placed three golfers on the nine-member team that will play 36 holes for the NYSPHSAA state championship in June. Seniors David Berkun and Mark Lesinski were joined by freshman Ben Reichert as North golfers form one-third of the select team. The medalist of the 27-hole tournament was Grand Island’s Aaron Schauger. The Viking senior paired a morning 74 with an afternoon 40 to edge Berkun by one. Also qualifying were Mark Joslin of Hamburg, Joe Conti of Fredonia, Wil Lockwood of Maple Grove, Dan Weimer of Silver Creek and Nolan Ditcher of Randolph.
Section VI State Team 2013
Berkun, Reichert and Ditcher are returning members of the team. Interesting to note is the split between Fall season qualifiers (5) and Spring season members (4).
