Senior PGA National Championship

Champions in three distinct divisions were crowned on Friday at Lawrence Park in Erie, PA. The Senior, Super Senior and Classic Senior divisions of the WNY PGA championship series was held over two days at the northwest Pennsylvania course. When all putts were holed, Rob Horak, Denny Lyons and Ed Pfister emerged from the 36th green with championship belts.

Horak held off first-round leader Mark Kirk by one stroke to secure the 2012 Senior division championship. Horak (Ravenwood in Victor), Kirk (Crag Burn in East Aurora) and Bobby Hogan (Paddock Golf Dome in Tonawanda) qualified for the 2012 PGA National Senior Club Pro championship, to be held in October in Leesburg, VA. Hogan emerged from a playoff with Rodney Blair (Transit Valley in East Amherst) to secure the final qualifying space.

In the Super Senior division, Denny Lyons of Buffalo turned in rounds of 75 and 73 to stake claim to a 10-stroke victory over Jack Tindale, of Genesee Valley golf club near Rochester.

In the Classic Senior division, Ed Pfister of East Amherst posted an 81, good for a 5-stroke win over Jim Brado of Audubon golf club.
