November 1, 2013 — Callaway Footwear is pleased to announce its 2014 product line available at retail on November 1.  Headlined by X Cage-Vibe , featuring the revolutionary X-Vibe spikeless outsole co-developed with Vibram, and X Cage-Pro with 11 PINS Pro Flex Performance Spikes. X Cage-Vibe gives you unparalleled traction in a spikeless golf shoe while X Cage-Pro delivers the most traction ever in a Callaway shoe.

“Our 2014 product line is a tribute to Callaway’s long history as a leader in technological innovations that help golfers play better and make the game more enjoyable,” said Callaway Footwear Vice President of Product Jake Pinger. “In the X Cage product, for example, we set out to make a golf shoe that is as important to your game as an iron, putter or driver.”

The upper design in both the X Cage-Vibe and X Cage-Pro features a TPU stability wrap to enable synchronized movement with the high-traction outsoles throughout the golf swing.  Both outsoles incorporate Callaway’s Triangulated Traction technology, designed to ensure the shoes maintain a minimum of three points of contact with the ground throughout the golf swing for superior grip.

Leveraging traction technologies used in extreme mountain climbing, the X Cage Vibe’s spikeless outsole features Vibram’s XSTrek performance rubber compound, the most advanced sport performance compound in Vibram’s arsenal. The exceptional grip achieved in this outsole has been vetted through testing at Vibram’s industry-leading Performance Testing Center.  A video featuring aspects of this testing regime can be seen at www.callawayfootwear.com/vibe.

The Vibe outsole is the culmination of Callaway’s and Vibram’s combined research into maximizing traction as your weight transfers during the golf-swing.  There is a lateral traction element, or power wall, that stores energy as you load on your back foot on your backswing and then again on your front foot through your downswing.  Triangulated traction elements ensure that three points of contact with the ground provide maximum traction on both feet as your weight transfers mid-swing.

Both X Cage models also feature Superfeet insoles through an exclusive two-year agreement for golf footwear. Superfeet is the specialty run and outdoor market leader in high performance insoles. Superfeet insoles are designed based on the principles of podiatric medicine and have brought stunning performance benefits to athletes in a wide range of sports. “Your feet are your point of contact with the ground.  If your feet aren’t stable your game will suffer.” Pinger explains. “Superfeet Elite in the X Cage-Vibe and the Superfeet Pro in the X Cage-Pro feature deep, structured heel cups that help stabilize your foot and keep your body aligned to transfer maximum power through your swing.”

Summing it up, Clay Gary, Vice President Marketing, “By wrapping your foot to Superfeet insoles and our state of the art outsoles, with X Cage we give you the highest levels of traction and stability in golf in both a spikeless and soft spike version.”  The Callaway X Cage Vibe (MAP $149.99) and the X Cage-Pro (MAP $189.99) will be available at retail November 1, 2013.
