While The Masters has a way of getting the best out of the world’s best, it’s always possible a dark horse will emerge to don the green jacket. There’s no guarantee that it will be Phil, Tiger, Lee, Martin or Vijay sporting a new coat come Monday. Here’s a quick look at five dark horses who could have a special week at Augusta.
Steve Marino – He’s super talented and capable of holding a lead on Sunday. He’s never closed it out before but man would this be the week to learn he has it in him.
Aaron Baddeley – Baddeley had been written off at the start of this season but has put together a nice year and even picked up a win in Los Angeles. There was a time when he had the potential to dominate weeks like this. Him winning would be a big surprise but not a total out-of-nowhere shock.
K.J. Choi – Because we still think he’s a better player than Y.E. Yang. Choi will win a major at some point. His discipline and ball striking make him a contender this week.
Ryan Palmer – I don’t have any numbers or real concrete reasons to support this one. I just think Palmer is going to play well enough to be a factor during the weekend. Call it my hunch pick.
Brandt Snedeker – Sneds has a T41 and a T3 in his two previous starts at The Masters. He has a knack for the course.
