I played a bit of soccer/futbol in high school p.e. classes back in the early 1980s. From 1983 to 1988, I was enraptured with the sport. I played as often as I could in college and summer language school competitions (when you have the French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic and German schools going head to head, you learn the game quickly.) If soccer players are drawn to golf  courses, with the realization of the ultimate goal of increasing traditional golf awareness and participation, fantastic.

I can just imagine the impact of soccer nubs on putting greens. They won’t serve to punch holes for aerification, for sure. If a course decides to cut expanded holes in the fairway, just shy of the greens, to attract additional income, that would be the best way to appease the traditional golfer who doesn’t want greens destroyed by cleats. In other words, give it a try, I say. Hopefully a forward-thinking organization like Olmsted Parks would host an outing at Caz or Delaware Park to gauge the viability of footgolf and golf living in harmony in a changing world of sport.
