A local lad wrote the first red number on the leader board at East Aurora Country Club. James Blackwell’s two-under 69 staked him to a single-shot advantage over Luis Medina. Another stroke back is western New Yorker Jacob Kreuz, the 2012 All-Catholic champion.

Play continues early Tuesday morning, with the leaders going off the 1st and 10th tees at 7 a.m. The first round of match play takes place after lunch, when the championship bracket will be reduced from 32 to 16 survivors.
