The Midwest Prep Classic was played this weekend at Diamond Hawk golf course in Cheektowaga. Despite rainy weather, the only rumblings heard from the skies came from the twin engines that powered the jet planes during take off and landing. When the last drop of rain had fallen, shortly after the final putt fell, winners in both the individual and team competitions were recognized.
Press Release: 2011 Midwest Prep Classic golf tournament
History: 2011 marks the 4th playing of the MPC. Founded by The Kiski School of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, the MPC brings together high school golf teams for a medal tournament. Played in western Pennsylvania over 18 holes during the first three years of its existence, the MPC was expanded to 36 holes and played in suburban Buffalo in 2011. Plaques were awarded for the first 3 team finishers and the first 5 individual finishers. The championship plaque is kept by the winning school for one year and then returned for the next year’s event.
