Harvest Hill emailed me yesterday, they’ll be open March 15 for golf. I guess the new season is approaching fast.
If you followed the blog last year you know I made it a mission of mine to improve as a golfer. I called that Mission, “Operation Don’t Suck.” I liked the blunt, honest tone it set.
I took lessons, I listened to guys who were better than me and even traveled to Long Island to get tamed by Bethpage Black. It was my most rewarding summer of golf in years. And guess what, I did improve.
This year, I’d like to take it further. I have this internal clock that knows when it is and isn’t time to golf. For some reason, I don’t yearn for fairways during winter the way others do. However, now, it’s time. I can smell it in the air.
I have two hopes for Buffalo Golfers and all those who love the game this season…
1) A spring, summer and fall of awesome weather and great days on the golf course. And, hey, maybe a winter just like this last one. Whaddya say?
2) Dare to improve. Honestly, for a few years there I just figured, I’m a lousy golfer and that’s that. It was how I justified my high scores and lack of work ethic for the game. Let me tell you this, it doesn’t have to be that way.
With golf, like everything in life, there’s room for improvement if you’re willing to put in the time. Make, take or find a little time to work on your game this year. It will make a difference.
Golf season is coming Buffalo. Here’s hoping we get to use the clubs way more than we had to use the shovels in 2012.
