They are calling for snow in Buffalo tonight. It won’t stick and stay, but it’s a bummer of a weather report for mid-April. It’s time to golf and thus here are some thoughts on the sport we love…
~ Bubba Watson is cool. He’s hooked his newly adopted son Caleb up with a mini-Masters green jacket. He tweeted a photo of it earlier this week. Bubba seems like a guy who loves to have fun. He’s proved he’s a fiery competitor when the situation demands it, but here’s hoping he never loses that fun spirit.
~ Ben Curtis is in position to win today. I still remember working at Elkdale Country Club the day he won the British Open. Karen Kaye, the mother of Kim Kaye, rushed in excited. Kim was a stand-out golfer from Salamanca, NY who played at Kent State University and knew Ben quite well. I’ve always pulled for Ben a bit since that day. It’s fun to know the personal stories behind players.
~ I must confess… I’ve yet to play golf in 2012. I’ve wasted the nice days we have had and just haven’t been able to get into the swing of things this year. The Masters sparked something in me – but I’m still waiting to officially kick off my personal playing season.
~ I’ve sincerely enjoyed the voting for the best holes in Western New York series we’ve put together on this site. It’s been driven by Mo Golf and Scrambler mostly – so I can’t take any credit. I think it’s great to see an effort to try and highlight all that’s great in golf in this area.
Alright, gang. Weather the snow. Find the clubs. Hit it straight.
