The Section VI boys golf squad made an effort to improve on its day-one standing of 8th place at the NYSPHSAA boys state golf championships, at the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. golf course at Cornell University. Represented by golfers from six area schools, the 9-golfer lineup found itself solidly between the +118 shot by sections 3 and 4 (6th place tie) and the +173 recorded by section 2 (9th place) at days end. The top area golfer was sophomore Andrew LaCongo from the East Aurora/Holland contingent. LaCongo finished in a tie for 17th place after two rounds, earning a Top-20 All Star designation. Anticipation was high for some of the senior members of the Section 6 brigade, but the rough weather on day one eliminated the vast majority from contention for individual honors.
