There is relevant golf today and it’s called the Solheim Cup. The Tour Championship and FEDEX Championships conclude on the PGA Tour this week, but do you honestly care?
I don’t. I haven’t really followed what the PGA Tour has had going on since the PGA Championship concluded. Unless you’re a Ryder Cup or a Presidents Cup, you’re not going to suck me in once the calendar heads toward fall.
It boggles my mind that a man will earn $10 million today. It boggles my mind even more that the man who earns that check may not actually win the event. I learned from a quick read this morning that Webb Simpson could earn the check even if Hunter Mahan or Aaron Baddeley wins the final event of a series.
Say what? How does that work? That’s not how most playoffs work.
I love the game of golf. I love the Tour whether Tiger is dominating or Keegan Bradley is winning majors. So often, the game and its governing bodies just get it right. A few years into this FedEX Cup series though and I still fail to see what this whole thing is actually achieving.
