A couple of folks mentioned the split-fairway 15th at @senecahickorystickgc so we dug deep and found a few shots from both sides of the divide. They are from April of 2020, so the course was in beautiful shape for month the first of that season. Another wonderful short four in western New York.

To conclude our four-pack of short par four holes on this Thanksgiving Sunday, we turn to @transit_valley_cc Transit Valley Country Club and its 16th hole. The second of consecutive, short par fours, 16 is deceptive, thanks to the strategic precision of William Rathman. A disciple of the great Donald J. Ross, jr., Rathman tacked differently from traditional archies, by building back-to-back, short fours. I was contracted by Transit Valley a few years back to produce some photos, so they are not in short supply.

One of our viewers mentioned the 7th at Ironwood Golf Course @ironwoodgolfcourse and we remembered that it had been a while since we've been out that way. Last time, the Ripstein family owned the place. Now, @cigarsbuffalo has taken ownership and has the place popping, they say. Here's a look at Scott Witter's gorgeous, diabolical 7th hole, another legendary, short par four in Western New York.

Our second Sunday short par four is the 18th at Lancaster. It's a controversial hole, for sure, but once you get the hang of it, you know which club to pull, and where to aim. I had the fortune to do a photo shoot for LCC a few years back, so I have a number of looks at this hole.

Still on the topic of short fours, we'll hit four of them today. Here are three shots of the wee fifth at Country Club of Buffalo. After playing the long fourth (a half-par hole) and with the all-world sixth visible in the quarry, it's easy to lose focus and make a mistake here. Play to 140, hit short iron to green, take two putts and away you go!
