Did anyone see that coming? Acushnet, the parent company of Titleist and FootJoy, will be purchased by … not Nike … not Callaway … not any golfing company that you might have anticipated. Fila Korea wasn’t even mentioned along the rumor trail of the past half year. Mirae APE? Never heard of them.

Robert Simms, women’s and men’s golf coach at St. John Fisher in Pittsford (near Rochester), took some time out of his day to answer our questions on the SJF golf programs.      

A wet Diamond Hawk golf course in Cheektowaga gave a 74-golfer field an early-season challenge at the Section VI qualifier for high school state golf championships at Cornell University.

As noted in my Bubba Watson post, it’s always fascinating when the volatile and fickle nature of golf imposes itself on the seemingly robotic professionals of the PGA Tour.  During the Sunday action at Sawgrass, Lucas Glover accomplished a feat that I don’t believe I’ve ever seen before.
