Here’s something worth noting – the members of England’s male and female amateur golf associations have agreed to merge into a single governing body. According to the organization, the move “will help us to grow the game and will be more appealing to commercial partners and sponsors and will mean we can be more cost effective.” The new group is set to be called England Golf as of Jan. 1.

The move doesn’t suggest we should eliminate women’s tees or that men should play on women’s tours and vice versa. It’s notable in that it recognizes that we all walk the same fairways, we all stand in sand traps, we all struggle with this great game. With golf and all sports, it doesn’t matter your gender. All that matters is that you enjoy the game.
